Stiles and Levine Properties Break Ground on First Publix-anchored Shopping Center in North Carolina
Posted on 4/11/2013Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Charlotte, N.C. — April 11, 2013 — Joint venture partners Stiles, a full-service Florida commercial real estate firm, and Charlotte, N.C.-based Levine Properties announced today that the companies have broken ground on Publix Super Market's first store in North Carolina. The official ceremony was held at on March 28 at the Ballantyne Shopping Center located at 11206 on Providence Road West in the Ballantyne community.
The Publix-anchored shopping center is scheduled to open in early 2014. It plans to feature a 56,445-square-foot Publix Super Market as well as 10,000 square feet of shops and restaurants. The center marks the Lakeland, Fla.-based grocer's entry into the greater Charlotte area. Stiles and Levine formed a partnership with Harris Land Company, the property's owner, for the development of the center.
"Ballantyne Town Center represents not only the introduction of one of the most successful grocery retailers in the Southeast, but also the beginning of one of Stiles' most important expansion endeavors to date," said Robert Breslau, Stiles President of Real Estate Investment Services. According to Stiles Real Estate Investment Services President Robert Breslau, Stiles and Levine are pursuing each of these market segments, have several joint projects in the planning stages and are actively acquiring other properties for future development in the Charlotte market.
The joint venture partnership has already started plans on their second Publix-anchored shopping center in Charlotte, Shops at South Line. That project will be located at the intersection of South Blvd. and Iverson Way and plans to feature a 54,975-square-foot Publix Super Market as well as 8,400 square feet of shops and restaurants. It is expected to break ground within the second quarter of 2013.
