Stiles' Managed LEED Certified Properties Honored with Highly Coveted Building of the Year Awards

Stiles announced today that its managed office buildings, Lake Shore Plaza II in Sunrise and The AutoNation Building in downtown Fort Lauderdale, were honored with The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) and Earth award, respectively, from the Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA). The TOBY Awards were held at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort and Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Nov. 1.

The highly coveted TOBY award was presented to Lake Shore Plaza II, Broward County's first multi-tenant office building to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Lake Shore Plaza II, located at 1300 Concord Terrace, Sunrise, Fla., won in the 100,000 to 249,999 square feet category. The LEED-Gold building is managed by Kelly Trahan, property manager at Stiles. Stiles is the original developer of Lake Shore Plaza II, and has owned and managed the property since 2006. With a total of 128,470 square feet of office space, the property maintains an impressive roster of tenants, including New York Life Insurance, Emerson Electric, Global Medical Management, T-Mobile, and Florida Bar Association.

As one of the first property management firms in Florida to implement a fully-integrated sustainability program, Stiles Property Management maintains more than 12 million square feet of Florida office, retail and industrial properties in its growing portfolio.

"Stiles is having a tremendous year with property management operations at all of our locations in Florida, and we continue to grow in South Florida and especially Orlando," said Chris Rotolo, president of Stiles Property Management. "These awards underscore the great Stiles team as well as our company's commitment to hands-on property oversight, sustainability programs, responsive service and quality maintenance."

In the Earth award category, The AutoNation Building in downtown Fort Lauderdale was given top honors. Managed by Stiles property manager Megan Purdue, who was also the evening's Ron Macklin Scholarship Award winner for her contributions to the industry, the building was recognized for its sustainable practices, such as energy conservation, indoor air quality, green cleaning and tenant education. Certified LEED Gold, The AutoNation Building is the second office building in downtown Fort Lauderdale to achieve the LEED credential. The property is located at 200 Southwest 1st Avenue and comprises 17 stories, more than 187,000 square feet of office, and 17,000 square feet of retail near Las Olas Riverfront. The property is home to a variety of quality national office and retail tenants including AutoNation, EverBank, Beechstreet Capital, TBG Partners and Pita Pit.

"We are truly honored to receive these esteemed recognitions and look forward to continuing to set the benchmark for quality in office buildings and excellence in office building management," said Rotolo.

The TOBY Awards are the most prestigious awards of their kind in the commercial real estate industry. The awards recognize superiority in office and industrial buildings and reward excellence in building management. During the review process, all facets of a building's operations are thoroughly evaluated — from community involvement and site management to environmental and green policies and procedures.
