Dade County Federal Credit Union has tapped Stiles Construction as the general contractor for its headquarters expansion and renovation.
The credit union, which has $838 million in assets and over 99,000 members, is based in the 33,258-square-foot office at 1500 N.W. 107th Ave. in Sweetwater. Fort Lauderdale-based Stiles will completely renovate the office space, construct a three-story, 40,000-square-foot office attached to the original building, and complete a 154-space parking garage.
Marla Ferreira, manager of real estate for Dade County Federal Credit Union, said the work should be done in 18 months. The Sweetwater building was constructed in 1995. In 2005, it opened an office/branch location in Kendall to house part of its staff, she said.
“Over the years we have grown and expanded and realized to create more efficiency it made more sense to bring both headquarters buildings to one location,” Ferreira said.
Once the expanded headquarters building is completed, the office building in Kendall will be sold, but the credit union will sign a lease to retain the branch there, she added.
The new office building will include a three-story atrium for employees to congregate. Ferreira said 100 to 150 employees will work in the office.
“Given Stiles Construction’s broad experience and rich history in the Southeast, we are proud to be a resource for our clients during these challenging times,” said Tim Moore, president of Stiles Construction. “While the environment surrounding construction is evolving, we are closely monitoring the situation, following strict safety and health protocols, and remain committed to ensuring our client’s projects move forward as planned.”
