Highlighting a resurgence of new business in the wake of the pandemic, Stiles Retail Group (SRG) announced the opening of Amped Fitness at Marketplace at Altamonte.
Senior Associate Stephanie D’Amico handled the leasing for SRG, a division of the full-service real estate development firm, Stiles. The fitness center is anticipated to open this summer.
“Emerging from the pandemic, people will be eager to support local businesses that have been through the challenges of COVID-19,” D’Amico said. “Residents will want to shop, eat out and workout, so Amped is entering at the perfect time for the City of Altamonte Springs and surrounding areas. They offer such a wide variety of services for members no matter what your fitness interest, you can find it there.”
The 38,073-square-foot facility will be Amped’s seventh location in Florida and 8th overall. It also marks a homecoming of sorts for Amped CEO Travis LaBazzo, a former Altamonte Springs resident.
“I lived in Altamonte and enjoyed the diversity of the community and wealth of nearby activities. I also understood the fitness demands of the area and saw an opportunity to help fill that gap,” LaBazzo said. “Amped prides itself on being a one-stop shop for fitness. The visibility and access from I-4 to our Altamonte location will make it easy for residents to stop in on their way to or from work. We want Amped to be a perfect new home for the community’s fitness needs.”
D’Amico added: “The space itself is a fantastic second-generation opportunity for a full-service gym with locker rooms, saunas, kids’ areas, yoga rooms and a smoothie bar area — all with great natural light, I-4 signage and ample lighted parking. Travis and his team were able to understand the opportunity and see the space for what it could provide them.”
Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Amped Fitness offers a variety of high-end amenities including daily HIIT group classes, personal training, hydromassage, an immersive Les Mills spin studio, tanning, basketball courts, and free childcare with memberships starting at only $9.99 per month. Because of its competitive lineup of amenities, Amped Fitness brings a level of energy that is unmatched in today’s current market.
To bring Amped to Altamonte Springs, D’Amico and the Stiles leasing team navigated a host of challenges due to the pandemic.
“We were able to pivot to digital tours, conference calls and small, socially-distanced tours during lease negotiations,” D’Amico said. “Fortunately, we had invested in virtual tours and new, as-built plans for our center back in 2019 so it was a seamless adjustment for Stiles.”
