We are proud to announce that The Broward Center for the Performing Arts Huizenga Pavilion has been awarded a 2015 GalaVerde LEEDership and Green Award by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) South Florida Chapter.
Completed by the Stiles/Miller joint venture team in 2014, this LEED-Silver project was recognized for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality.
The 11,700-square-foot pavilion achieved LEED-Silver certification in July 2015. With soaring floor-to-ceiling windows, the structure features casual indoor and outdoor dining at the first-floor New River Bistro. The pavilion’s second level offers 3,500 square feet of event space with wide-angle riverfront views. Perhaps its most exciting feature, the pavilion is connected to the theater via an air-conditioned, below-ground walkway. The pavilion was a part of the BCPA’s 18-month renovation and expansion project, which took place all while the center remained open to the public.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this significant project!
